Listen before choosing the solution.

Talk with the people closest to the issue. Review the available information and separate the visible symptom from its possible causes. A maintenance concern, a missed task, or a recurring business delay may need a different response once the underlying problem is understood.

Be clear about the impact and the work.

Identify who is affected, what needs attention first, and which responsibilities belong to each person. Discuss the tradeoffs and define the intended result. That makes it easier to agree on a plan people can understand and carry out.

Review what happened.

Check the result against the original concern. Ask for feedback, document what changed, and adjust the next step when the evidence calls for it. Problem-solving becomes more useful when the lessons carry into the next project.
